National Institute of Hydrology (NIH) is
a premier organisation involved in Research and Development under
Ministry of Water Resources, Government of India. NIH was established in
1978 with the main objective of undertaking, aiding, promoting and
coordinating systematic and scientific work in all aspects of hydrology.
It was established as an autonomous society and is fully funded and
aided by the Ministry of Water Resources, Government of India. The
Institute was declared as an S&T organisation in 1987. NIH has
acquired the status of the premier Research Institution of India. Some
of the major achievements of the Institute since its establishment
include Publications brought out by the Institute in the form of
technical reports, pamphlets, brochures, leaflets, state-of-art reports
etc. These publications have been widely circulated to various user
agencies in India as well as abroad.
Major research findings in the form of reports and research papers are published in reputed international and national journals, international and national seminars/ symposia/ conferences.The Institute has completed a number of consultancy and sponsored research projects to solve real life field problems.
